I've been looking at hard disk prices for sometime now but even this is kind of a big shocker - Hitachi Storage (ex- IBM) now offers 1Tb SATA 3g/b drive for $90 after rebate - that's mere 9c per 1gb !!!
Only a month ago I rarely seen prices (even on sale) less than 10-11c and that's not all, looks like PayPal running 15% off for any (single) purchase done today only!

No such thing exist as too much storage, so run and get it today or at least while the rebate is up.

While according to some user comments on Newegg site, the drive is loud and hot and have reliability issues - well - like with any hard drive the secret of long life and quite too is good cooling, I seen as WD drive which was mounted in ATX with single back fan, moved to HD heat sink encosured begun to work MUCH faster and work much quieter....

So, if you're value your data and time COOL em Drives !

Netbooks outsell Apple's Iphone in Q3 2008

Since first Asus Eee PC become available for purchase, new era has begun, with wave of Intel's wand it known as Netbook Era.
Start was slow and painful, but decline in economy plus ever desired need for light, compact and more importantly inexpensive laptops.

To be initially considered a niche product it surely picked speed and right now among 10 top selling laptops in Wal-Mart 5 are netbooks.

This is what JkOnTheRun writes:

"Let's look at sales numbers for the third quarter. Last week we saw smartphone numbers out of Gartner and they showed 4.7 million iPhones shipped. DisplaySearch just reported netbook sales for the same quarter and they came in 5.6 million units sold.

Let's put these numbers in another light as people so often discuss Apple's staggering growth in the mobile phone market even though it's a market they only entered in June of 2007. It truly is staggering that they can capture so much market share in less than 18 months. But the first netbook wasn't even available when Apple's first iPhone handset arrived. In fact, you need to wait another four months or so for the original Asus Eee PC 701, which we saw around October of 2007. I'd call that the unofficial "birth" of the netbook market, meaning it's a younger product than the iPhone. Yet it has now surpassed the iPhone in terms of sales and it's doing so at a faster growth rate."

HP G50-112NR
Black Friday sales just ended and some lucky people had a chance to stand in 10 hour lines to Office Depot and buy a brand new HP G50-112NR Laptop for a mere $349 - I Call it a FREE at this price for 15.4" Screen, Intel Dual-Core T3200 Processor, 3Gb of Ram, 160Gb HD, 6 Cell Battery and DVD-RW burner.

Not a big Vista fan? [Me neither]. Not a problem - I'll help you find most of these pesky drivers for XP, which HP is too lazy to provide.

Steps:
After fresh Windows XP install (I'd recommend start with XP CD with SP2 or 3 Built in):

  1. INF Update Utility to properly identify all system components.
  2. Then Video drivers for Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M.
  3. Network Card
  4. UAA driver for HD Audio and Modem
  5. Conexant HD Audio Modem driver [old one here]  - My helpful readers suggested a different audio driver which worked better for them – Get it here and if bugs you for login/password try this page [ I’ll try to arrange for a different mirror tomorrow]

And at last Wireless Network Wi-Fi driver: Broadcom,Intel and Atheros
You might have ether version, but I'd start with Broadcom first…

Please leave comment which Wi-Fi driver worked for you…

P.S: I received some responses about problems with audio. I’d like to hear your comments how did it worked out for you or not.
