"Why HTC Diamond Touch will fail".
This time I'd like to update the comparison for recently announced iPhone 3G and try to determinate if HTC's device future is as dark as I originally painted it.

Conclusion:
Surely you can see both device came really close, but in this case it's HTC playing the catch-up game and still somewhat behind.
I believe the final straw as in any platform will be applications support, and granted already existing iPhone 1.0 user base

A couple of points:
- iPhone has GPS but no navigation SW, therefore useless.
- iPhone can't be used to connect your notebook to the internet.
- iPhone also doesn't offer native applications. There are milions of apps for Windows Mobile for navigation, racing, geocaching, scuba diving, paragliding etc.
- 3.5mm headphones jack is the least reliable part of all mobile audio devices - just think of the mechanical design of the connector and the pressures on it. Better use a reliable USB connector with a short adaptor (like HTC does).

This is a pretty biased repot, if you ask me.
Your points about the 'headphone' jack are correct, but are not worth dedicating your entire first report on.
Your table comparing the two is hiddeously biased. "Safari (rumoured to have 'Flash)." Hold on...it doesn't!
iPhone GPS? I wouldn't take it out to sea with me, put it that way.
I think you have compared Apples and Pears.
If you're going to write a comparrison, try to be a little more impartial!

The solid facts regarding does iPhone has flash support or not came out only on 7/11 - release day. The iPhone 3G does have GPS, but the antenna is too small to have steady signal. Next time be man enough to leave your signature
theres other things not mentioned that the crappy iphone cant do:
mms messaging (nearly every phone can do that these days)
cant forward txt messages.
no flash support (I doubt there ever will be)
No copy/paste text features
cant send business cards through txts
camera, there was no point in having one, can't shoot video, takes crappy pictures.
Iphone is the biggest over hyped piece of crap in the market of phones.
and apple supporters will make up crap to tell you its cutting edge technology
Who gives a damn about crappy mms anyways then you have REAL email?
Why the hell would you forward txt? It's limited by 160 chars and 99% of them count only 20-30 at most
Copy/Paste is function being developed right now (3rd party)

Camera is extremely easy too use and what what 99% of none-geeks want and takes pretty good quality pics in right conditions.

Nice comparison between the 2 phones.
Apple has come long ways since the first iphone was released, really improving their support.
I think the phones are targeted at different markets Iphone is a great entertainment phone wich can be used for regular daily tasks.
HTC touch diamond has WM 6.1 wich is good for some people, I need to constatntly edit documents on the go and most of the times a latop is a no-go. Inventory control and tracking patient profiles is important, updates from this software via PC are necessary, that is why in my case, and the case of others who rely on PDA's and smartphones to do their job, The diamond is a nice option.
Although as an entertainment platform it might be harder to use than the Iphone, adding to that, problem with the HTC diamond (as well as Iphone) is that the data entry (screen keyboard) is a problem.
That is why I will hold on to get a HTC diamond right away, There is going to be a Diamond pro that has a full qwerty keyboard.
